Getting to Know the City

There are a ton of subtle details that you have to pause and enjoy. While there is a certain grander to the city as a whole it is made up of these little pieces that when looked at individually enhance the overall experience of Prague.

With that said, if I trip on another cobblestone I’m going to flip out.

I sat outside by this fountain for a little while this morning. The streets were damn near empty and it was much more peaceful and serene than the chaos that seems to ensue daily around noon time.

After Czech class, were we began to learn how to count (and it’s wicked hard), we had lunch at Bohemia Bagel, just outside of the Old Town Square. I had a steak and cheese with peppers and onions... never a good idea, but it was excellent... just as good as the ones served at home. And priced about the same too... As long as it’s not more expensive I’m okay with that.

Jumping back a second to last night: dinner was at at place called Beretta. It had an “American Indian Theme” and pizza names to match. I chose some kind of pizza with some overtly stereotypical name. Everything on the menu had something to the effect of “Running Bull” or “Eagle’s Beak.”

Fast forwarding back to this afternoon, after lunch was finished I went to a photography store to have some passport photos printed up. I can pick them up tomorrow and also get my tram pass so I don’t have to use the tickets anymore.

As for this afternoon I’m going to hop down to a local supermarket, pick up some more food, and then figure out what I’m doing for dinner tonight. It’s going to be tough figuring out what to eat while I’m here... Partly because I don’t understand Czech, and partly because eating can be very tedious.

I have to get up early Friday morning to register for trips during my stay. I am allotted one overnight trip, and one day trip. In addition I may be able to go to Moscow, if I get there early enough, and can get one of the 10 seats available. Classes start early next week. Hopefully that will consume a large about of free time that I am currently sitting on... While it’s nice to have nothing to do, it can be tough finding things to fill the void left by my activities back home. Thus it will be a goal of mine to have an excellent semester grade-wise. I should have the time to do a knock-up job on all of my school work.

Won’t my teachers be pleased.
