A Crash Course in Prague
Trauma.

I got my haircut today. The first haircut in 8 years by someone other than Andrea.
It’s also the most I’ve ever spent for a haircut in my life.
We’ll get to that in a few. First comes the beginning of my day: my roommate wakes me up at 9:10 with the question, “Hey Chris, are you going to get up?”
Special thanks to Jack for waking me up this morning, as I would have slept right thru class otherwise. A&A was up near the castle. I actually felt like I was walking thru the mansions in Newport, RI. The leaves were falling on the lawns, the sky was a gray color, and the wind almost, almost, smelled like the ocean.
It was a taste of home. It wasn’t obviously the ocean in the traditional sense, but I suppose my head put it in there to satisfy my need to get to the coast. I bought it anyways.
After that class I went to the photo place to get some B&W film and photographic paper. I also discovered that they have the Fugi Color Pro 160S! It’s my favorite! As I was walking back toward school I stopped at a local place to see about lunch. Finding nothing appetizing I kept walking. I walked down to Toni & Guy, and seeing as there was nobody standing at the reception desk I seized the opportunity to go in and make an appointment. They offered tomorrow or Saturday, before hesitating and saying, “unless you have time now.” I had an hour and change before photo, so I went for it.
Now this is a full service place. They immediately took my coat, and hung it up, and placed my backpack beneath the coats in the closet. They put a robe like cape thingy (I don’t know what the heck it’s called) on me and tied me in. I sat down with the hairdresser and she showed me what she thought would be best for my hair. She even said, “same style” and I said, “yes, please.”
I suppose the word “same” has lost its meaning here.
After washing and massaging the conditioner through my hair I was offered, coffee, tea, water, or a glass of wine. Seriously. I declined all of the above. She began to cut my hair... and spent a solid 15 minutes cutting and blending just the back.
It’s certainly blended. She cut the rest of my hair in a similar fashion, as though I were a sculpture; moving around in some sort of recognizable pattern, cutting my hair.
When she was done I looked like I was 12. Maybe 13. She gelled it and it made me more like 16.
The photo on the right at the top is how she left me... The photo on the left is how I did it after a shower at home. I tried to comb it over, but it won’t go... It just “peacocks” across the front because it’s so short.
Dad say’s it looks European.
I think i look like a cotton bud. That’s the Czech form of the Q-Tip.
Oh well. It’ll grow. And it only cost me 1000 kc. $60 bucks.
The word “only” does NOT belong in the previous statement.
Anyways on tap for the weekend: homework, laundry, store, explore Prague, and relax.
Russia is coming... this time next week! Crazy. I pick my visa up tomorrow, providing I didn’t get denied for my lifetime membership to the NRA...
Okay. I’m taking my cotton bud head to bed.
Goodnight World.
