A Familiar Face

Today was my heavy day in classes... Nothing too crazy. During lunch I went with Veronika and some of the guys to a place that served more traditional Czech food. It was quite good. Lentil soup, some sort of meat in a sausage like shape (that tasted more like corned beef hash), and boiled potatoes... But these boiled potatoes actually tasted good...

In media criticism we talked about Merton and manifest versus latent function in society. Kristin would be proud of me!

After classes I had to blow home because I was going to have dinner with Myron. I got home, grabbed the tickets for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic that I had procured for us, and ran back out the door. I was only 15 minutes late... but I wanted to be on time. boo.

I chose a nice little quiet place along the river, but set back off the water (you couldn’t actually see the river) for dinner. We were the only two in the restaurant. Dinner was excellent.

Analogy for all; of you Pork::Beef as CZ::USA.

After dinner we hustled over the Charles Bridge to get to the concert.

Again I was not disappointed. The orchestra and the choir were unreal. I actually ended up with one of the horse hairs from the first cello’s bow! He broke a horse hair in the first piece, and had to tear it off the bow. I ended up with a small piece... Because again I was the front row... After the concert we walked back over the bridge, stopped at a local bar for a drink, and then headed our own directions home.

It’s so nice to see someone that you know well here. It’s like the comforts of home... Anytime I find someone from Massachusetts here and they know where I live, and the places in the area, it’s that same comforting feeling... Like I’m not so far from home after all.

But I am. And this place is beautiful. On my way home last night I had to run and try to catch the number 11 tram. The driver had already closed the door, but saw me running, and waved “come on” and he opened the doors for me to run ahead and jump on.

That was something he didn’t have to do. But he did. I nodded my head and put up my hand in thanks.

Two other news points about today: The front panel on my cell screen broke! it shattered somehow... I pulled it out of my pocket and it was busted! Bummer! I’m going to call Sprint and see if there’s anything they can do for me. And I picked up my photos from northern Bohemia too. I have some very nice shots, but I don’t have digital copies of them... So I’m going to try and take some digital pictures of the physical photos to see how they come out... With any luck I’ll have some up later on Wednesday.

But the development is SO expensive. it was 950 crowns for 3 rolls of film! And that’s with one set of prints! Granted they look great and the film was handled well, its still wicked expensive!

Oh well!
