A Crash Course in ...Italy?
Rome: Day 4
Our last day in Rome was more of a travel day than anything else. So I’ll leave the boring details out.
I took a shower and had breakfast before laying back in bed, quietly thinking about various things. After Jess woke up and showered we packed, and took a short walk thru some of the local stores. We checked out and were picked up by the van to be taken to the airport.
Check-in went smoothly, but they refused my film a hand inspection at the security check point. I was upset, but had to oblige.
We grabbed some food at the terminal. Again I had pizza. They pulled a gate “switch-er-roo” on us and we had to go from gate B4 to B3. We had plenty of time to walk the 100 feet necessary to wait another 10 minutes to board the aircraft.
It turns out we were seated in an emergency exit row! I had enough leg room to nearly stick my legs straight out. Although they tried to give me a tray table for snack but it wouldn’t stretch across the seat to insert into the pins that were there for the tray to affix to. So I just left it in my lap.
The landing wasn’t textbook, but it worked. The pilot set the right wheel carriage down first, then the left, and finally the front... I knew my Papa would have cringed...
Anyways we arrived back in Prague, and walked to the bus terminal. While we waited I helped some Greek travelers on a long lay-over find their way into the Old Town. It’s nice to be able to help people thru the city. After all having been here over two months I can navigate it pretty well.
Upon arrival home we started some laundry, and headed back to the Old Town for dinner.
After dinner Jess and I finished the laundry, she packed, and we watched the week of TV shows I had missed (Heroes, House and CSI).
Then it was to bed for a couple of hours sleep before we had to get up and head to the airport so Jess could head home...
